Research Scientist

We are looking for: 

• One young materials scientist as part of the Research & Innovation (R&I) organization located in Shanghai  under the Specialty Polymers GBU, to work closely with the GBU business team (sales and marketing managers) and CTD (Customer Technology Development) to provide innovative polymer formulation solutions to address the specific performance/application needs from customers in all market clusters (Transportation, Electrical & Industrial, Healthcare, Environment, Consumer & Construction).

• Fully engaged with GBU business and CTD teams with on-time responses to customer needs

• Participate in GBU business activities, including visits to customers, technical presentations during internal and external seminars/discussions.  

• Providing technical support and technology transfer to plant operations.

• Be open/interested in working with data scientists, adept at using the AI tools which are created for new product development.

You will bring:  

• PhD in polymer science or Chemistry / Polymer or Chemical / Polymer engineering. 

• 3 years+ experience product development in compounding technology for high performance polymer compounds is considered an advantage.

• Academic background on high-temperature polymer materials and compounds, including melt processes such as compounding, injection molding, and extrusion fabrication. 

• Academic background on macro-molecular molding is considered an advantage.  

• Proficient in testing and characterization techniques and their related applications. 

• Well organized working style, self-motivated in technical learnings and strong desire to exceed

• Good written and spoken English and communication skills. 

• Be proactive and collaborative with various functional teams and an effective team player.

• Strong scientific skills in polymer materials science and technology.
