We are looking for: Thermoplastic Composites Technician

  • The Thermoplastic Composites Technician will work with the TPC team to develop and characterize novel thermoplastic composites.
  • This will include producing existing and novel thermoplastic composites and testing them using a variety of characterization techniques, including TGA, DSC, Microscopy, GPC, and Mechanical Testing.
  • This person will work with a scientist on selected projects and work towards producing, testing, and collecting data to accomplish the project goals of the Product Development team.

  • Carry out experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings to the team.
  • Assist in the scale-up of new composite products from laboratory/pilot plant to commercial scale.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of all testing and results in a lab book (physical or electronic.)
  • Read, understand, and follow methods, SOPs, work instructions, safety requirements/policies, regulatory guidelines, and company policies.
  • Continuously improve HSE standards.

Desired skills: Experience working with Composites and Thermoplastics

  • Health and Safety conscious.
  • Excellent organizational skills, demonstrates written and verbal communication skills, works well in a team, and demonstrates ability to interface with internal customers.
  • Advanced computer skills to navigate instrument software.
  • Some mechanical aptitude (i.e., working on and around equipment).

Desired behaviors:

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of routinely working in a laboratory environment.
  • Desire to learn about more Thermoplastic Composites and their applications.
  • Creative problem solver with strong aptitude for equipment/tasks/processes/etc.

  • Passion for working collaboratively and desire to work on challenging problems that require multi-faceted solutions.

You will bring:

  • A BS degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, or a related science.
  • General laboratory experience is required; experience with materials testing or polymer testing is a plus.

You will get:

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
  • Total compensation for this role also includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
  • 16 or more weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations.
