R&D Technician(One year contract)

Syensqo is all about chemistry. We’re not just referring to chemical reactions here, but also to the magic that occurs when the brightest minds get to work together. This is where our true strength lies. In you. In your future colleagues and in all your differences. And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.

Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Technician to support applications development activities, with primary responsibility for dielectric property measurement and thermo-mechanical characterization.

The position will perform material testing, sample preparation, data collection and 1st analysis, and laboratory-scale prototyping, including the preparation of films and/or sheets for characterization.

The successful candidate will work closely with R&D scientists and researchers in the team to generate accurate, reproducible, and high-quality experimental data that supports application development and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Characterization – Primary Responsibility

  • Perform dielectric property measurements on polymeric and related materials using established test methods and equipment.
  • Measure and analyze relevant dielectric/electrical properties, such as dielectric constant/permittivity, dielectric loss, and other applicable parameters.
  • Perform thermo-mechanical and thermal characterization using techniques such as DMA, TMA, DSC, UTM, and/or other relevant methods.
  • Prepare specimens, set up and operate characterization equipment, and conduct measurements according to defined procedures, SOPs.
  • Process and analyze experimental data and summarize key observations and trends.

Sample Preparation & Prototyping

  • Prepare laboratory-scale films and/or sheets for characterization and performance evaluation.
  • Perform sample preparation and prototyping using appropriate solution- and/or melt-processing methods.
  • Support optimization of preparation and processing conditions to obtain consistent and reproducible test specimens.
  • Handle materials, formulations, and samples according to established laboratory procedures.

Laboratory & Data Support

  • Maintain accurate records of sample information, experimental conditions, measurement results, and observations.
  • Organize, process, and summarize characterization data for review by R&I scientists and researchers in the team.
  • Prepare basic technical summaries, graphs, and presentations of experimental results.
  • Support routine maintenance, calibration, and good operating condition of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain an organized and safe laboratory environment and follow all applicable HSE procedures.
  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to support R&I projects and laboratory activities.

Experience and Skills

  • BS degree or MS degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant industrial or research experience preferred; strong recent BS and MS graduates will also be considered.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in materials characterization and testing.
  • Ability to follow test procedures while recognizing and reporting unexpected results or experimental issues.
  • Basic ability to analyze, organize, and communicate experimental data.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package.
  • Access to a comprehensive training platform.
