Stadium seats typically consist of polypropylene (PP). Along with polyethylene (PE), polypropylene is one of the most versatile types of plastic. In fact, polypropylene is found in nearly every market sector that uses plastics.
A disadvantage of polypropylene, however, is its high degradation rate when exposed to UV light sources, such as the sun. Light and heat cause the bonds holding the polymer together to break, weakening the plastic.
