Syensqo today announces with deep sadness the sudden passing of Hervé Tiberghien (61), Chief Operations and People Officer and a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Hervé served as Chief People Officer and member of the Executive Leadership Team of Solvay from 2019 to 2023, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s people strategy and culture. Throughout his tenure, he embodied Solvay’s purpose and values to bond people, ideas, and elements to reinvent progress, with a strong commitment to ethical leadership, inclusion, wellbeing and performance.
Following the creation of Syensqo in December 2023, Hervé joined the new company as Chief Operations Officer, assuming the additional role of Chief People Officer in August 2024. During this period, he played a central role in shaping Syensqo’s operating model, organizational structure, and people strategy.
Hervé’s strategic vision profoundly influenced Syensqo’s ways of working. He championed curiosity and exploration, encouraged collaboration and shared accountability. Moreover, he was consistently focused on creating a positive impact for customers, people, and society. Under his leadership, Syensqo built strong foundations in operational excellence and a people-centered culture that will continue to guide the company for years to come.
Prior to his tenure at Syensqo and Solvay, Hervé held a number of senior leadership positions at PPG Industries, including Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President of Human Resources at the company’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh, USA.
Throughout his career, Hervé made a lasting impact on the organizations he served and, above all, on the people. He was deeply committed to connecting people, developing talent, and fostering a culture grounded in care, integrity, and performance. With a rare combination of expertise in industrial operations and human resources, he led with conviction, empathy, and a strong belief in the potential of others.
Hervé was an exceptional leader and an extraordinary human being. He led with integrity, courage, and deep respect for people. His compassion, wisdom, and authenticity touched everyone who had the privilege to work with him. This is a heartbreaking loss for Syensqo, and for me personally. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Hervé’s impact on Solvay and Syensqo was profound. He brought together operational excellence and a deep commitment to people, leaving a legacy that will endure. The Board joins the Executive Leadership Team in expressing our deepest condolences and our sincere appreciation for all that Hervé achieved during his time with us.
