Seasoned finance leader succeeds Julian Waldron as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee
Syensqo today announces the appointment by co-optation of Thomas Bucher as a new Independent Non-Executive Director and member of its Board of Directors, effective May 13, 2026. He will also succeed Julian Waldron as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee and will serve as a member of the ESG Committee. Julian Waldron stepped down from the Board of Directors effective as of the end of day of May 12, 2026 and, accordingly, as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.
This Board evolution comes at an important moment for Syensqo, as the company continues to focus on disciplined execution, operational excellence and accelerated value creation. The appointment of Thomas Bucher further strengthens the Board’s financial, governance and risk oversight capabilities as Syensqo advances in its next phase of development.
Thomas Bucher brings more than three decades of international finance and leadership experience across specialty chemicals, energy and global services. He has served as Chief Financial Officer of Archroma, Alpiq Holding and Gategroup, having previously held senior finance and business leadership roles at Ciba Specialty Chemical. In addition, Thomas Bucher has built a strong track record as a Non-Executive Director with significant audit committee experience.
He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Die Schweizerische Post AG, where he is also a member of the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee, and as Non-Executive Director and Audit Chair at Primeo Energie. He also serves as Non-Executive Director at DocMorris. Previously, he held Non-Executive Director roles at Archroma Pakistan and Tareno, adding to his experience across listed companies, financial oversight and international governance environments.
Thomas brings deep financial expertise, strong governance credentials and substantial audit and risk experience across international businesses. His appointment, together with the recent refresh of Syensqo’s Board, further strengthens our ability to provide effective oversight and support the Company’s long-term strategy.
