The science company celebrates its dedication to innovation with a series of events in Brussels and Paris

Syensqo, a science company previously part of Solvay, celebrates cutting-edge advancements in the field of chemistry during an Innovation Week taking place 19 to 22 March.

Innovation is at the heart of Syensqo businesses. With 15% of the workforce in R&I, 12 major R&I sites around the world and 5% of its turnover dedicated to R&I, the company fosters a culture of exploration, creative thinking and problem-solving, throughout its scientific, industrial, and technological ecosystems.

“I am thrilled to dedicate an entire week to Syensqo’s innovation power in Brussels and Paris. Exploring and maximizing the immense possibilities of science to bring concrete solutions and technologies to life is what we do at Syensqo. We believe breakthrough innovations are needed to help solve the world's most pressing issues, and we are committed to driving this positive change through our investments in R&I, our Growth Platforms that enable clean mobility, circularity and the application of green hydrogen, and through our Ventures fund which provides capital to pioneering new companies who are making a positive impact on the world."

Mike Finelli, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at Syensqo

Innovation Week program

Innovation will take center stage throughout the upcoming week:

  • 19 March: Celebrating Prof. Omar Yaghi, the 2024 laureate of the Science for the Future Ernest Solvay Prize by Syensqo, and a pioneer in new and revolutionary applications for reticular chemistry, such as clean energy technologies. On this occasion, Helen Sharman, the first Briton in space, will give an inspiring presentation about her journey into space and how chemistry advances space exploration.
    • Ernest Solvay prize Ceremony - 3.30-5.30pm at Palace of the Academies: 1 Rue Ducale Hertogstraat, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. Registration mandatory via media.relations@syensqo.com.
  • 20 March: Interactive session between Pr. Omar Yaghi and the Syensqo young scientists and fellows delving into the practical applications of his innovative research, with a specific focus on Syensqo’s potential applications.
  • 20 March: Finals of the Girls Leading in Science competition with around 50 Belgian secondary school students. This competition was initiated by women scientists from Syensqo’s R&I team in Belgium, to inspire young people, and more specifically girls, to pursue higher education in a scientific or technological field. Participants with the best project will be offered a Syensqo grant to continue their future education in STEM.
  • 21 March: Understanding the technologies of tomorrow during an exclusive visit inside the Syensqo Paris Research and Innovation Center.
    • Innovation Day Paris - 9.30am-12.30pm at Syensqo Paris Research and Innovation Center: 52 Rue de la Haie Coq, 93300 Aubervilliers, France. More information about the program and registration procedure can be found here
  • 21-22 March: Sharing insights onstage and inspiring start-ups in their innovation journey as a main partner of Hello Tomorrow in Paris. Syensqo Ventures is the exclusive sponsor of Hello Tomorrow’s track on “Industrial Biotech and New Materials”, and for this year’s competition seven companies active in bioproduction, biotechnologies and greener and more cost-effective chemical manufacturing have been chosen as finalists.
    • The Hello Tomorrow program and information about the participation of Syensqo are available here.
