Ryton® PPS for DC fast-charging busbars takes 1st place in the Compounding & Materials category

Syensqo, a global leader in high-performance polymers, has won first place in the Compounding & Materials category of the inaugural Fakuma Innovation Award 2026 for its Ryton® PPS XE3500 OR, demonstrated in an extruded busbar manufactured by Standard-Metallwerke.

Designed specifically for DC fast-charging busbars, Ryton® PPS XE3500 OR addresses the demanding insulation requirements of charging systems capable of taking an EV battery from 20% to 80% in around 20 minutes. The material combines high temperature resistance and dielectric strength with excellent impact toughness, while maintaining its distinctive orange color for reliable high-voltage identification and enhanced safety. Its durability and temperature stability support longer-lasting components and can enable higher power density and more compact designs, with the potential to reduce material use and service needs over the product lifetime.

As charging power increases, materials must deliver greater electrical safety and thermal reliability without compromising design freedom or manufacturability. Ryton® PPS XE3500 OR brings these requirements together in a material designed for established extrusion processes, helping our customers develop safer, more compact and durable fast-charging systems.

Andreas Lutz, Sales Manager Automotive EMEA at Syensqo

Presented for the first time in 2026 by Schall Messen and K-Zeitung, the Fakuma Innovation Award recognizes technological progress across the plastics value chain. Entries were evaluated by an independent expert jury, with Syensqo selected among five nominees in the Compounding & Materials category.

Syensqo's award-winning technology is already in series production and is being showcased through a demonstrator at Fakuma 2026, Hall B4, Booth 4213, where visitors can discuss its performance and applications with Syensqo experts.
