This Research Engineer I is laboratory based and reports to the Process Laboratory Manager – RIC-Bristol. The incumbent main role is to support roadmap projects, customer support, and manufacturing developments. They will define and carry out projects & experimental programs to ensure the transfer of project results to internal and external customers, and to create technology investment and/or new product development opportunities to enable the Syensqo to grow the business and enhance its industry leadership position. Key responsibilities will include conducting laboratory / pilot chemical reactions and development of scale up processes from laboratory to industrial scale.

Adhere to and follow company safety policies and procedures for the site and the lab.
Demonstrates a safety commitment / behavior by participating in BBS’s, volunteering for safety teams, proposal of lab improvements in terms of safety, etc.
Performs all aspects of the job under supervision from R&I Manager or Senior R&I Manager
Develops and executes research projects with supervision from R&I Manager to respond to customer needs (main interaction with Market Labs R&I project leaders)
Process development for new products (basic data acquisition, feasibility and scale-up studies).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab, including proper disposal of waste.
Record and analyze data accurately, maintain detailed and up-to-date lab records in ELN following Syensqo policies.
Supporting industrialization of new products and processes.
Support to internal customers (market labs, industrial teams, regulatory teams).
Author and contribute to technical reports, technical IP support, and patents with support of an R&I Manager
Supports drafting technical packages
Manage the lab equipment under their responsibility (according to site and Syensqo QHSE policies)
Proposal of new technologies, process improvements, lab equipment aligned with Syensqo innovation goals and roadmap.
Conduct technology watch to propose new technologies, process improvements, lab equipments aligned with Syensqo innovation goals and roadmap
You can count on us for:

You will bring:
BS / MS (preferred) Chemical Engineering
2+ years experience with:
Demonstrated knowledge of Organic Chemistry and Process Engineering a plus
Knowledge of solids handling a plus
Experience in an industrial setting a plus
Demonstrated ability to perform laboratory work safely with minimum supervision
Understanding of and performing chemical analyses using various analytical techniques
Demonstrated capability to use MS Office suite (Excel, Power-Point, Word) and Google Suite
Experience in design of experiments (DOE) – planning, executing, interpreting, and communicating results – preferably Minitab
Experience with Aspen, Matlab a plus
Demonstrated ability to communicate to stakeholders – verbal and written

The U.S. annual base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: $78,500.00 to $98,500.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, such as skills, experience, qualifications, etc. and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
