Syensqo celebrates a new leadership role that reinforces its commitment to global sustainability progress

Syensqo is proud to announce that Dr. Ilham Kadri has been reappointed Chair of the Executive Committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for a new three-year mandate, following approval by the organization’s Annual General Meeting.

Syensqo has been an active member of WBCSD for many years, contributing to global initiatives on climate, circularity, and sustainable value-chain transformation. This appointment recognizes Dr. Kadri’s long-standing leadership in innovation,  responsible business and sustainable chemistry, such as the recent launch at COP30 of Global Circularity Protocol and taking part in the Front Runner Coalition that showcases leadership in circularity.

Under her guidance, Syensqo has advanced its One Planet program she launched in 2020, including the recently awarded CDP leadership A rating for climate and water, advancement toward carbon neutrality, strong progress on renewable energy sourcing and circularity revenues, as well as continued investments in breakthrough chemistry enabling cleaner mobility, sustainable healthcare, and next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.

I am honored by the trust that WBCSD’s Council and members have placed in me. The climate emergency, nature loss and mounting inequality are converging crises, and business has both the responsibility and the opportunity to change course. Together with Peter Bakker, WBCSD CEO, its teams, the Executive Committee and its global network, I am committed to turning ambition into measurable action across value chains, proving every day that sustainable business is simply good business. Sustainability gains traction when it speaks the language of operations. I look forward to shaping the next chapter of sustainable, competitive and inclusive progress.
