This recognition places Syensqo among the world’s leading companies’ transparency and performance on climate change (A score), and water security (A- score)

Syensqo is proud to announce that it has been awarded an ‘A’ rating for Climate by the global environmental non-profit organization CDP. With this reviewed score for 2025, improved from its 2024 A- rating, Syensqo earns a place on CDP’s “A List”, as a global leader in transparency on climate change and among the top 4% of companies scored by CDP. This recognition demonstrates Syensqo’s continued progress and leadership on environmental transparency and climate action.

In addition to its strong climate score, Syensqo received an A- rating for water security, building on the B rating for 2024 and reflecting robust management practices and its ongoing commitment to responsible water use e.g. by advancing tailored water stewardship plans at 15 key sites in 2026.

Six years ago, when I created our One Planet roadmap, we set ourselves a bold ambition: to decarbonize our business at more than the pace required by the Paris Agreement and to align with a 1.5°C trajectory, validated by the SBTi. Year after year, our teams have systematically overachieved on those commitments. Being welcomed today into CDP’s top league with an ‘A’ rating for climate is a powerful recognition of that collective effort and confirms that Syensqo is firmly on the right path to lead in sustainable profitable performance, and value creation for all our stakeholders.

Dr. Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo

Sustainability is central to our strategy and to the value we bring to our customers, shareholders and society. Climbing to an A rating in 2025, two years after the launch of Syensqo, is a remarkable achievement and positions our organization among global leaders. This recognition underscores the strength of our climate action and risk mitigation.

Titta Rosvall-Puplett, Chief Sustainability Officer at Syensqo

As part of  its One Planet roadmap, Syensqo aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 20401. The company remains on track on its 2030 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which aim to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and scope 3 emissions in Focus 5 categories2 by 25% compared with a 2021 baseline.

Syensqo’s A- rating for water stewardship underscores its sustained commitment to responsible water management. In September 2024, the company announced a target to reduce freshwater withdrawal by 20% by 2030, compared with a 2021 baseline, at sites facing water scarcity risks, even as the business continues to grow3.

1 Reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 80% from 2021 baseline and compensate residual emissions with high-integrity carbon credits in line with UN High Level Expert Group recommendations.

2 Focus 5 categories of Scope 3 emissions: (a) purchased goods and services (b) fuel-and energy-related activities (c) processing of sold products  (d) use of sold products and (e) end-of-life treatment of sold products.

3Target on Fresh Water Withdrawal pertains to sites exposed to water availability challenges have faced drought in the past or are at risk of drought in the coming years, and may be subject to fresh water withdrawal restrictions by local authorities, identified using the Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas and conducting local assessments to confirm water availability challenges.
