Energain® for EV Cells

Syensqo’s Energain®SA076 can be used in various electrolyte ingredients for EV cells. Depending on the application, it can function either as an additive or as a solvent.Energain® SA076, in particular, demonstrates excellent performance in high-voltage cells (such as high-voltage mid-Ni NCM, Mn-rich, and LNMO), high-nickel cells, and silicon-anode cells.

As shown in the graph below, Energain® SA076 formulations improve both room-temperature and high-temperature cycle life performance, with greater improvements observed at higher SA076 content. In addition, Energain® SA076 formulations show excellent thickness stability during high-temperature storage tests, indicating effective suppression of gas generation at elevated temperatures.

As a fluorinated solvent, Energain® SA076 has a higher viscosity than typical carbonate solvents. However, as the Energain® SA076 content increases, high C-rate discharge performance also improves.

Energain® SA076: Battery Cell Performance – High Voltage LMR and LNMO Coin Cells

Energain® SA076 is a material with high voltage stability and demonstrates excellent performance in LMR and LNMO cells operating at high voltages. 

The graphs below illustrate cycling at 4.7V and 4.9V, where formulations containing SA076 show improved cycle performance and enhanced cycle life.
