Sustainable alternative to synthetic ingredients
Miracare® OPR 2 NDPE RSPO MB is a next-generation opacifying ingredient developed as an alternative to synthetic, acrylate-based systems.

This innovative, highly efficient, bio-based technology is a stark alternative to synthetic ingredients, such as styrene on a number of different aspects (biodegradability, natural index, opacifying, etc.).
Strong opacifying performance
A spectrocolorimeter was used to measure opacifying performance. The L white index correlates to whiteness: a higher L* value indicates a stronger covering effect.
To match the performance of styrene acrylate at 1%, Miracare® OPR 2 NDPE RSPO MB was used at 1,8%. The covering effect increased with dosage, but reached a plateau at 2,8% as is. Only 1.8% of Miracare® OPR 2 NDPE RSPO MB is needed to achieve the performance of styrene acrylate at 1%.
If the viscosity of the final formulation requires a minimum viscosity of 3000 cps, adding a rheological agent is not necessary.
Enhanced Color Performance
The bright white base provided by Miracare® OPR 2 NDPE RSPO MB enhances the intensity and purity of added colors compared to formulations based on styrene acrylate. The result is a visibly whiter and more vibrant product appearance.
