M&T Test Lab Manager (Composite Materials) - Wrexham

We are looking for:
A Laboratory Manager to lead our Mechanical Testing and Qualifications Laboratory Team based in Wrexham. The team is composed of 7 Technicians and completes the testing required for the qualification or screening of composites materials such as prepregs and adhesives used within Aerospace, Defense and other industries.

  • Developing expertise and exploring continuous improvement with respect to safety, quality and innovation
  • Proposing the investment (CAPEX) needed to maintain and improve lab capabilities
  • Managing our portfolio of test data and maintaining documentation to an externally auditable level

You will bring:

  • A degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Polymer Science or similar
  • Good knowledge of mechanical testing preferably with a strong background in characterisation of composite materials and/or adhesives
  • Experience working in laboratory environment
  • Leadership skills
  • People orientation
  • Collaboration
  • High standards with respect to quality and have a strong sense of urgency
  • A high degree of customer focus and an ability to communicate effectively at different levels within internal, customer and supplier organisations
  • A high level of self-motivation and ‘get it done’ attitude
