AM Cup

Open Innovation: Syensqo's AM Cup in Partnership with L’Oréal and Ultimaker

The Additive Manufacturing Cup is an international contest organized by Syensqo where teams of students and engineers with 3D affinity around the world take on today's challenges of 3D printing high-performance polymers. Past editions of the AM Cup have been very successful and inspiring. The winning teams have demonstrated the potential of high-performance 3D printing for fabricating complex polymer shapes and overcome the challenges of fused filament fabrication (FFF) to create parts that can virtually match the performance and quality of conventional injection molded parts.

This year we are partnering with L’Oréal, the world’s beauty leader, and Ultimaker, the global leader in professional 3D printing, offering the largest diversity of 3D printing products and services in the industry, to challenge students, engineers and makers from around the globe to create an innovative design for a 3D printed real industrial application.

The disruptive solutions offered by 3D printing technology enable complex geometric forms that may not be made with conventional manufacturing technologies and play a key role in accelerating the agility of the manufacturing process.

This partnership further accentuates the importance of optimizing material, hardware, software, and process together when designing a successful 3D printing project.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year we have organized for the top finalists submitted designs to be printed directly by Ultimaker.  The material to be used for printing by Ultimaker is Solef® PVDF which has been specifically chosen from Syensqo’s portfolio of high-performance filaments for 3D printing comprising also KetaSpire® PEEK and Radel® PPSU AM filaments.
