Durability enables sustainability. By extending the lifetime of a product, we minimize resource consumption and waste, contributing to a more sustainable and circular economy.  

At Syensqo, we offer a range of solutions aimed at enhancing the longevity of polymer-based components used in essential infrastructure, equipment, automotive and other applications. They include our high-performance polymers, polymer stabilizers and green solvents. These materials offer exceptional durability, as well as reduced corrosion, improved safety, and lower total cost of ownership.

Our materials are built to perform in the harshest energy and industrial environments. Our Solef® PVDF, Ryton® PPS, and Evolite® composites, for example, are used in reinforced thermoplastic pipes (RTPs) and flowlines, while our KetaSpire® PEEK and Torlon® PAI are used in pumps, compressors, and high-speed industrial components.

We also offer a range of polymer stabilizers,  such as CYASORB®, CYASORB CYNERGY SOLUTIONS®, CYASORB CYXTRA®, and CYANOX®. These additives support material performance and longevity in demanding applications, including interior and exterior car parts, thermoplastic olefin (TPO) roofing,  rotational molding and agricultural films. They are designed to enable circularity by extending service life, preserving structural integrity and enhancing the performance of both virgin and recycled resins throughout compounding, processing, fabrication, and end use.  

In addition to this, Syensqo provides solutions that improve the durability of plastic-coated metals. Our Addibond™ bifunctional polymeric additives, for example, are designed to strengthen the bonding performance of metal treatment formulations. This is complemented by our Rhodiasolv® green solvents, which meet demanding performance requirements while offering a safer option for operators to use during polymer processing.

Reducing Environmental Impact

The beneficial impact of durability on sustainability is especially critical in the emerging green hydrogen economy. Syensqo is pioneering innovative solutions that are crucial to achieving the United Nations’ ambitious goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. We believe hydrogen solutions can rapidly transition global energy systems, enabling a shift from fossil fuels to low-carbon and, ultimately, to carbon-free fuels. This energy carrier is crucial for the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy-duty transportation and other emissions-intensive industries.

In both electrolysers (for hydrogen production) and PEM fuel cell systems (for hydrogen usage), materials must withstand high stress, aggressive media, and thermal cycling. Syensqo offers a portfolio of advanced polymers specifically designed for these applications, such as Aquivion® ionomer, Udel® PSU HYRA, Radel® PPSU HYRA, Ryton® PPS and more.

These polymers serve key roles — from membranes, diaphragms, and gaskets to cell frames, valves, endplates, and thermal management components — ensuring system durability, safety, and reduced total manufacturing costs, while supporting the scalability of green hydrogen technologies.
