Ajedium™ Films Markets & Applications

High performance films, made of Halar® ECTFE or other materials are widely used as architectural membranes, thanks to their unique properties:

  • Transparent and Light - Halar® ECTFE film is lightweight and provides excellent light transmittance.
  • Superior Durability – Highly clear and light-transparent, offers extended long-term stability (more than 20 years) when exposed to sunlight and atmospheric events. Fire resistant approved, it exhibits both chemical resistance and barrier properties.
  • Self-cleaning and Anti-fouling – Thanks to its low surface tension and smooth surface, it offers very limited adhesiveness to dust and dirt, both of which are easily washable with minimal rain and wind.
  • Eco-friendly - Some Halar® ECTFE thin films are recyclable, allowing heavy and breakable rigid-glass replacement while offering significant weight reduction as well as flexibility and freedom of design.

High performance films made of POM, POM/PTFE, PEEK, PBT, PA 4,6 are widely used as self lubricating bearing surfaces, thanks to their unique properties:

  • Abrasion/wear resistance and low maintenance
  • Close tolerance film for even wearing (+/- 3%)
  • Custom surface finishes for specific applications

Films for use in aircraft applications where the uniform release of the polymer film from a composite or other substrate under pressure, heat or other environments is required. They are usually made from polymers such as fluoropolymers or PMP (polymethylpentene).

High performance films made of PEEK or PEKK are widely used as thermal acoustic blankets components thanks to their unique mechanical and fire properties.

Compliance with FAA regulations for:

  • Fire behavior (radiant panel test)
  • Bondability to scrims and nonwovens

Subgaskets

Customized extruded films from a wide variety of polymer resins (PMP, POM, POM/PTFE, PVDF, THV, etc) suitable for membrane subgasket materials are provided through Ajedium™ film services, offering:

  • Flat-die extrusion of monolayer and multi-layer films (co-extrusion)
  • Thickness capabilities of 5 microns to 1.5mm
  • Width capabilities up to 1320 mm

High performance films, made of PEEK are widely used as submersible pump insulation, thanks to their unique properties:

Halar® ECTFE films are the best option for frontsheets used in photovoltaic modules thanks to their UV stability and optical clarity. Solef® PVDF films are ideally suited as a component in backsheet laminates for PV modules. Solef® films can be laminated to PET for traditional PV structures.

Syensqo offers protective Films made by Solef® PVDF which offer high resistance to environmental conditions and lower friction for wind mills blades and turbine generators.
